TASTE THE HEAT: CRUSH EDITION

Taste The Heat (Love and Games #1) by Rachel Harris
Published: July 8th 2013

One sexy fire captain. One Cajun chef, One combustible kitchen…

When chef Colby Robicheaux returned home to New Orleans to save her family restaurant, the last person she expected to reconnect with was her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. As tempting as a sugar-coated beignet, Jason is one dish she doesn’t want to taste. Colby is counting down the days till she can leave the place where her distrust of love and commitment originated and go back to Vegas.

Fire captain Jason Landry isn’t looking for love, either. He knows he should focus on finding the perfect mother for his daughter, but when he first sees Colby, all grown up and gorgeous, he can’t help but be drawn to her. And when she suggests a no-strings-attached fling, Jason doesn’t want to say no.

As their relationship grows more intense, Colby finds that Jason isn’t as easy to leave behind as she thought. Could turning up the heat on something real be worth the possibility of getting burned?

First Crushes... are you getting as embarrassed  as me there?
I actually thought a lot about whether to do this post or not... But then I thought "If you survived  four years with the entire class knowing, you can share it with the internet!" So here I am...

As much as Colby, it was the longest crush ever in my life! Hers turned out way much better than me, but here he is!

My First Crush was a guy named Tomás when I was in third grade. I don't remember much what was it at that moment that I particulary liked about him, but I told my friend. And she told someone who told someone and yeah... NOT fun!

But you see, that's something that got stuck in people's heads forever and ever and it always somehow came up. He was the first guy that made my tummy felt all weird so I always had a soft spot for him. And it made getting over my crush kind of hard.

We were a small class, 18: 10 boys and 8 girls. I told you that I don't remember what it was back then that made go all wow over him, but I can tell you what it was while we were growing up.

He was funny and when we had to stand in line at the beginning and end of the school day he was next to me so we talked and usually got in trouble =P

He was sweet. I remember in 6th grade, he liked the new girl who was all kind of mean girls style and he was pretty heartbroken over it. I spend a whole recess talking to him and two other boys wondering why were boys so stupid and defending the female race.
We shared an undying love for Edgar Allan Poe and were our Spanish teacher's pets. Always competing to see who could write the best poetry or story. (I always won in my head ;)) You can imagine that when he told me how heartbroken he was, he did it in a lot of words... and how can you not like a boy who's able to speak about how he feels?

We loved loved loved the show Truth or Scared, like it was the first thing we talked about the day after the show. He had a biggest crush on

He liked Blink 182 and Guns and Roses. I loved making fun of the latter hehe

He was as stubborn as me. I can't think of a person I had more fights over stupid things like fonts and layout for our projects. And I'm talking about huge fights to see who would lead the team. You'd think that by then, teachers had to know that making us work together wasn't such a good idea. Considering the amount of times I was forced to work with him and SIT with him the teachers enjoyed watching us fight or the world was out to get me.

Most important of all, in 6th grade, when mean girl made all the other girls stop talking to me he stuck by my side for those long 2 weeks.  Granted, he wasn't speaking to her and he knew even though no one ever said this out loud he was one of the reasons she wasn't talking to me, it was still really nice to have someone who could understand my gloomy poetry during those awful days. Plus, I got o run wild with the boys for 2 weeks instead of looking pretty in a corner!

We were good friends, but nothing ever happened and after 7th grade we barely saw each other because we changed schools... and I have no idea where he is right now!

So there you have it, my story of my first and longest crush!

If you want to read one that is way more interesting and with a better ending, go get your copy of Taste The Heat!!

ABOUT RACHEL HARRIS

Rachel Harris grew up in New Orleans, where she watched soap operas with her grandmother and stayed up late sneak reading her mama's favorite romance novels. Now a Cajun cowgirl living in Houston, she still stays up way too late reading her favorite romances, only now, she can do so openly. She firmly believes life's problems can be solved with a hot, powdered-sugar-coated beignet or a thick slice of king cake, and that screaming at strangers for cheap, plastic beads is acceptable behavior in certain situations.
When not typing furiously or flipping pages in an enthralling romance, she homeschools her two beautiful girls and watches reality television with her amazing husband. Taste the Heat is her adult romance debut. She's the author of MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEENTH CENTURY and A TALE OF TWO CENTURIES. She loves hearing from readers! Find her at RachelHarrisWrites.com
