Katie thinks she’s going crazy when a baby angel and death’s personal assistant appear on her doorstep. Both claim she’s destined for something great. If she can survive, that is. She’s drawn into a world filled with immortals like Rhyn, an outcast who claims her as his mate in a show of defiance to his brothers. Katie rescues Rhyn from Hell, and he discovers fast just how special his little human is. With Death counting his days on one hand, Rhyn must learn to love, before his own time is up and Katie becomes the first human casualty in the brewing war between immortals. Will the love between a gifted young woman and an immortal outcast save the world-- or destroy it?
Lizzy Ford’s book are always good. This one is no exception, Katie’s Hellion (you have no idea how much the title fits) has a bit of everything... the romance probably comes a bit later in the book, but there’s a lot of craziness at the beginning to keep you entertained. And Alpha males are up for grabbing!
Katie’s Hellion is a quick read that pulls you right in from the beginning and leaves you wanting for more.
Katie has a boring life, she works at a fast food restaurant and then spends most of her time at her house. But one morning changes everything when suddenly there’s a 5ry.o following around claiming to be her child, and that’s not the worst, everyone thinks that is her child. And he doesn’t come alone... Gabriel, a Death Dealer, is usually around and both assure her that when the time comes, she’ll die. As if that wasn’t crazy enough, Katie is pulled into a world she didn’t know it existed full of men who take what they want when they want it.
The Council That Was Seven is supposed to maintain order in the human world, but when they found out about Katie and her unique abilities their leader, Kris, wants her and he doesn’t care
Rhyn has been in hell for a long time now, put away there because he can’t control his powers. He knows that and he knows he could easily kill everything and everyone without warning but that doesn’t mean he’s happy with how things turned out. When Gabriel, his only friend, comes with a solution he doesn’t hesitate to say yes... and he has no idea what he got himself into.
What I liked about Katie is that, even with all the crazy things going on in her life and with all the men trying to force themselves on her she takes no orders from anyone. She does has a tendency to drink... a lot to try to deal with it... but when your world is turned upside down I guess you’re free to do it.
Rhyn is mor
e animal than human. He’s been locked up for so long he has no idea how to deal with anyone, let alone Katie. Which turns out to be rather funny when we goes all caveman pon her.
The secondary characters, are probably one of the best things. Some you love and others you hate. Gabriel and Toby are obviously in the you love them category. Kris and Katie’s sister... yeah I can do without them.
The book has a lot of scenes that would be better called NA or Mature YA. The characters aren’t teens and it has a lot of drinking and abuse. But with all the fuzz NA is having, I’d say the fans of this new genre and of paranormal will love it!
