Troll or Derby Blog Tour

1:00 AM 3 Comments

In Troll Or Derby, fifteen-year-old Roller Deb is singled out by town bullies for both her skates, and for being different. When her popular homecoming queen of a sister is kidnapped by a scuzzy drug dealer, Deb must flee the trailer park in which she's grown up, and rescue her. Along the way, Deb becomes enmeshed in the magical realm of trolls and fairies, and the blood-thirsty version of roller derby at which these beings excel. But spending too much time among the fairies comes with a price. Will Deb choose to save her sister, with the aid of a mysterious troll? Or will she be lost to the lures of roller derby, and the blonde temptress April, forever?

This book was different for sure. The Troll is the hero (a lovely twist by the way!) and the Fairy is a roller skater you wants to join a Derby team! (whip it, anyone?)
The whole idea for fairies not being the sweet little thing you're used to from Disney and the Troll who's the good guy give you a great turn from most fae's book
It really well writen. The chapters change POVs between the main character, giving you more to the story than just Deb trying to find her way in the world she knows and the world she just find out about.

Deb is a 15 year old girl who lives in a trailer park with her drunk mother and her perfect sister. She's bullied over her love for skate and because she's gay. I think it was a nice touch from the author that she was. It gives more variety to the reader. But for that fact in particular, this book isn't a romance. Deb and harlow's relationship is friends only.
Harlow is a Troll who lives away from everyone, after his parents died. He's Deb's protector but just as Deb he doesn't remember much about their childhood and what their parents planned for them.
When he finds Deb, and he learns who she is, he starts to remember and helps her to find her sister and keep her safe from his family.

I must say it was nice not having a love triangle in this book. And the villians are good. You hate them, they are evil and they love it. The Trolls make a drug that they sell to faes and humans alike. They kidnap people and eat them. They are what you'd expect from a troll.

I think the style of the book would be better for younger readers, however the abuse, the drugs and other subjects make it more suitable for older teens.

The plot is well developed, but I wished there was more to the characters. Harlow's POVs were better to relate to than Deb's.

Expected publication: December 18th 2012

SOMETHING DARKER (book one of the Inferii Dii)

The one thing Syrus Alcot, the God of Death Osiris in the Egyptian Pantheon, wants in all the worlds is the woman he loved and lost returned to him. When he gave up his powers, and freedom for a life of service he was promised her return. That was over one thousand years ago. A member of a team of dark gods charged with keeping humanity safe, he leads a loveless existence in New York City, searching for the one thing that could bring his wife back to him, a lapis scarab that was lost to him ages before.

Gwen Stapleton, a mild mannered librarian, is unaware that she holds the key to not only Syrus’ happiness, but her own. Seemingly stuck in a hopeless relationship with a man she doesn’t love, she has no idea that a chance meeting in Alphabet City will start a landslide to her heart’s content. Because Gwen is the keeper of the scarab, and is everything Syrus has ever wanted… and hes not the only one.

An Ancient evil is waking, and its servants will stop at nothing to see it seize its rightful place as the new pantheon of earth. And in order for Syrus and his team to save the world, Gwen is going to have to accept him, and show that love does make all the difference.

The Secret of Ella & Micha: Blog Tour

1:00 AM 0 Comments

Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.

Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.

Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to bring his best friend, and the girl he loves back, no matter what it takes.

Review

I was having trouble wondering where to start with this great book. And the I read this and said.. yeah, no better way to describe it!

“Welcome to Star Grove.” I shout over the music. “The Land of the Intense
and Poverty-stricken, where the adolescents roam free without sober
parental supervision and try to start fights wherever they can.”

You’re in for a rush of adrenaline. A little secret that will drive you crazy, wondering what happened that night.
Seriously, I wanted to scream to someone to tell me what happened!
And a LOT of sexual tension

"He knows what I’m about to say—he always does. He is my best friend, my
soul mate. In a perfect world, full of roses and sunshine we’d be together, but
this world is full of broken homes, drunken fathers, and mothers who give up
easily.”

This book gets you you hooked right from the start. Ella and Micha’s story is THAT interesting. So yeah, go ordering your copy now, and keep reading. it gets better!

I could go on and on about Micha and his super hotness... but lets Ella gives you a little about how he looks.

“Micha has always been stunningly beautiful in a way that
makes artists’ hands ache. He’s dressed in a red plaid shirt, dark jeans, and a
pair of black boots. His lips are full and ornamented with a silver loop and
his dirty blonde hair has a slight wave to it. His skin is like porcelain and
his aqua eyes carry more than I can handle.”

And the best part? He has a lip ring. A. LIP. RING. And tattoos.
Excuse me while I drool.

They both have a complicated past. Their lives are a mess. And without each other, things seem like they settled down a little...

Ella has left her attitude behind. She’s a nice girl now. She has good grades and nice friends.
Micha stop drinking altogether.
But being back in town again, next to each other... all control slips.

Lila... wow, she was a great character. And in a way, is the one that makes you discover all the mysteries. Lila knows good girl Ella, and when they get to Ella’s house, and she’s faced with her past, she’s curious to know what her friend has been hiding all along.
Ethan is another great character. He's Micha's best friend and he's worried about him. He wants the best for his friend and maybe, Ella is not as good for him as everyone else thought.

Micha wants her best friend and the girl he loves back, but Ella fought a lot to make herself a new person, and being back is about to tear everything apart, and maybe this time she won't be able to help herself.

Honestly, I loved this book from page 1. I read in one sitting, hating bathroom and food breaks with passion.  Is the kind of book that seems to short and makes you wanna read it all over again. And again.

Both characters have a lot of layers, passion and mystery. I love them.
And this book has everything to keep you going: sweet moments, hot moments, please-make-out-already moments (we love those, really), a few I'm-at-the-edge-of-my-seat ones too.
If you like a complicated love story, a badass girl, a super hot guy, and an awesome plot line, yuou'll love this book.

“When it all comes down to it,
it’s just me and her against the world. Always has been.”

The ending was perfect, but I need more...
I can't wait for the next book in the series!

OPAL TRAILER REVEAL!

1:01 AM 0 Comments

Opal (Lux Series #3)
Available in both print and digital version on December 18, 2012

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

YA 50 BOOK GIVEAWAY

11:17 PM 0 Comments
Ok, so when you first walk into a bookstore, where do you go?
YA, duh.
So we love Richelle Mead,.
We do! She’s the Queen of Cliffhanger
And, well, we think she should hire us as babysitters, so we can hack her computer and get her books, because these cliffhangers are killing us
Also, she has the best characters EVER! Think Of Adrian Ivashkov *swoon*, that’s the perfect man, and Dorian (if you’ve read her adult series)
And Rose and Sidney, ..(and Eugenie if you read Storm Born) are strong characters not damsels in distress... plus they’re super witty and fun.
They make you wish you were that badass.
And if that book series is ever made into a movie, they better get awesome actors and actresses or there will be hell to pay.
Speaking of movies, there’s some upcoming movies from books that I can’t wait for: CITY OF BONES, Warm Bodies, and Beautiful Creatures.
Don’t forget Hunger Games 2! We want to see more Jennifer, and WE WANT TO SEE FINNICK PORTRAYED!
(SIDE NOTE: Speaking of Jennifer Lawrence, I just love that she’s dating Nicholas Hoult, and that he’s in Warm Bodies)
(SIDE NOTE #2: I’m Team Gale... I don’t care what you guys think, he’s the best!)
(SIDE NOTE #3: AGREED!)

I’ll show you a bit of how my mind works so you can understand why the big jump here. Warm Bodies is about Zombies... which reminds me of Richelle saying readers will ask for Zombie Rose if she ever kills her... which takes me back to Richelle and how we can’t get enough of her stories and characters...

Richelle can write books that honestly, will make you cry, laugh and want to punch someone, and not just so you can feel as badass as the characters... but because she always, ALWAYS left the books at the most “OMG SHE DIDN’T WRITE THAT” moment...

And speaking of OMG Moments... her story of Rose and Dimitri in the Foretold Anthology... yeah I SO need more after that.

So yeah, that’s our YA rant, speaking of YA, here’s this huge giveaway!

FOREVER MY GIRL COVER REVEAL

7:30 AM 4 Comments

Release: December 27th

Blurb:
I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.

I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I’ve poured my soul into my music, but I’ve never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.

And now I’m going back.

After ten years.

I hope I can explain that after all this time.

I still want her to be my forever girl.

My grandma once told me that I can do anything I want, so I am.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I now live in picturesque Vermont, with my husband and two daughters. Also renting space in our home is an overhyper Beagle/Jack Russell and two Parakeets.

During the day you'll find me behind a desk talking about Land Use. At night, I'm writing one of the many stories I plan to release or sitting courtside during either daughter's basketball games.

I'm also an active reviewer on The Readiacs - a site I own with my best friend and uber special beta, Yvette.

Blog Tour: Luminosity + GIVEAWAY

Luminosity Review

Published: November 2012
Publisher: Entangled Teen

My name is Beatrice. When I was born, I was blessed with the Sight. I was immediately removed from my parents and enrolled in the Institution. At the age of twelve, I had my first true vision, earning my raven’s wings. And when I turned seventeen, one of my visions came true. Things haven’t been the same since.

The Institution depends on me to keep the City safe from our enemy, the Dreamcatchers, but I’m finding it harder to do while keeping a secret from everyone, including my best friend Gabe. It is a secret that could put us all in danger. A secret that could kill me and everyone close to me.

But the enemy has been coming to me in my dreams, and I think I’m falling in love with him. He says they’re coming. He says they’re angry. And I think I’ve already helped them win.

Our Thoughts....

Tell me about the plot...

After a war that almost destroy the planet, the Seers are back and they protect the city and it's Citizens. That's how they world now works, the Seers live separeted from the Citizens in the Institution and they must keep the Dreamcatchers away and prevent them from kiling all the Citizens.

Beatrice, Bea, is probably the best of her class, her vision are clear and especific and they become true. But the Institution keeps a lot of secrets, and most Seers aren't allowed to know.
Bea needs to understand what's going on inside the Institution in order to save those she cares about.
But The Keeper, the leader of the Seers, and her Raven are watching, always Watching her every move, and maybe... The Keeper isn't very happy with what she's seeing.
Female Main Character

Bea is a very intriguing character. At first, she's like the rest of them, used t living inside the Institution and watching the City through tinted windows. But suddenly her Visions start becoming true and she starts having Dreams of a blonde boy named Echo. The problem is, Echo is a Dreamcatcher and she likes him. After meeting Echo, Bea starts having doubts about all the things they were taught to believe.

Bea is a strong character. She fights for her friends and t make sur they're safe but with all the secrets she doesn't know who to trust.
What about the hotties of the book?

Echo and Gabe...

Echo is calmed and collected. He's mysterious. He's the blonde Dreamcatcher that wants to save his people from a pest that's killing them.  Echo tries to guide Bea, he wants her help but he also knows a lot of things she doesn't.
Gabe is Bea's best friends. They've known each other since they were little, and have always been there for each other. But now tha Bea has been keeping secrets from him, he's not exactly happy.

What was the best part?

I love reading about the ins and out of the Institution and Dreamcatchers. To see how much control the Institution had over all of the Seers and Citizens.

What you didn’t like about the book?

I think they were some things that were very predictable, not just for this book but for the future... we'll have to wait and see.

Anything else I should know about this?

Yes! This is the first book in the Raven Chronicles. And the ending, yeah it makes you wanna have the second book right now.

I'm really looking foward to the rest of the story and learning what happens to all this lovelies characters.
