A Bed of Knives - contemporary romance with an edge.Friendship can get complicated when you start to fancy the guys you hang out with. When Eddie suggests a night out to celebrate the end of their final exams, four friends look forward to the evening with different expectations.Fast forward 5 years. Gina and Rose rescue Spider from living rough in Oxford. Is this enough to bring all four of them together again and will their friendship survive the revelations of the following days?


I really enjoyed this book once I got over the initials chapters were everyone was introduced and the first jump in time. It switches between the POVs of the four main characters and jumps from present to five years ago to the last days they were all together. It’s a very captivating book, I really wanted to see how things would turn out for them and at some points I felt like yelling “why do you do that?” or “How could you” either to a character or the author for making them go through it…

Gina, Spider, Rose and Eddie were college friends and all had big plans after graduation starting off with a night out that changed their lives.

You see, “A” loves “B”, but “B” is pinning after “C”, who loves “D”, and “D” actually loves “C” but there’s “B” to think about….

Five years later, the four of them still carry scars from that night and following events. None of them could let go of the feelings they had and one forced them back together…

The story is well written and planned. Is easy to follow through even with all the jumps in POVs and time. The emotions are raw and true, the characters believable and easy to like. 

The story is one about love and friendship. Of how we can make it through the hardest times if we’re strong and determined enough. Of how we always must follow our dreams but not get so lost in them we lose ourselves. And also of how our dreams sometimes aren’t what we really want or what’s best for of. Each of the characters has a unique story that leaves you with something, each goes for a different road and troubles in their path.

I’d have loved if there were more to Rose and Eddie’s stories and POVs or more to the ending, it felt a little bit rushed but as it is, the book is a great standalone about friendship and life, it’s twist and turns and how love can fix our biggest mistakes.

I really liked this book! Jenna Johnson brings the Celtic world in a very easy way to understand if you’re not familiar with it and with a very intriguing and captivating story.

The beginning is a little slow, but I enjoyed the fact that Meghan is not running from this unexplainable things that happen to her because they’re unknown, she’s running from them because she knows them and wants to keep herself sane. She’s seen these weird creatures and heard the trees cry all her life, and she needs to remember it’s only a figment of her imagination. 

Dunring the first half of the book we see her struggling against herself, trying to fit in, to be accepted.
I loved how she stays strong though all that, putting others before herself to make sure they’re ok even though she’s hurting and scare about everything that happens to her.

Meghan is a lovely character: she has a little group of friends she loves and protects whenever she can; she has a very big and tight family that mean the world to her and over all she’s brave. Meghan doesn’t want to go back to the psychiatrist so she hides her visions of horrible monster from everyone.

Cade’s sudden arrival puts her world upside down, even more than what it is. He tells her that she might not be a weird 17-year-old human girl. He gives an explanation for everything that’s happen to her ever since she was a child, but with this revelation comes the danger of knowing that those creatures are real and dangerous.
Cade… he’s mysterious, he’s sexy, he’s an awesome fighter and he’s caring. All you’d want in a boy.  He never gives a straight answer.

Faelorehn is a great book to start off a series: It gives you an introduction to all the characters and who they are in the right time without ruining the fun. The book sets the ground for what will comes next, and what comes next seems to be quite big!

 I’d love it if Jenna had included more background stories for Meghan and Cade or Meghan’s family and friends but I see how they’ll probably be more important in future books.
Cade comes and goes in the book making you desperate to know what’s happening, is he good? Is he bad? Can she trust him? Is all of it real?

Without putting any spoilers here, I can assure the end is going to leave you hanging and begging for more. I can’t wait to see how Meghan’s story will continue.

Week 2


1) Unfairly grounded by his parents, Jason decides to lie to them so he can go to the audition in Minneapolis. Unfortunately, not only does the audition end poorly but his parents discover his lie and things go downhill from there. Tell us the most outrageous lie you've ever been caught in. Bonus points if you can provide pictorial proof. Reenactments eagerly accepted.

Uhh… I was never caught in a big lie (thank God!) I was kicking myself for that lie though… I know I shouldn’t have done that! In my defense, I wasn’t going to let my friends go alone… anyways My parents never knew J
Then of course I was always caught when someone asks “Do you like him?” and I go “Noooo” *Turns red, laughs and stares at everything but the other person*
Mom always caught the little lies, I guess I don’t try too hard with them… but she ignores them so no problem there :P

2) In Faerie, Aoide is summoned to see the Faerie Queen. Have you ever met someone important like the Faerie Queen? Someone famous? Tell us the story behind how it happened. Once again, pictures are a plus!

I met ¾ of my fav band J so to me, they’re like the Faerie Queen. I met them thanks to my stalking abilities LOL I was outside their hotel for days, I was bound to get a picture with them at some point!
Pictures are somewhere locked in my hard-drive though, my computer died and my info is locked.


3) Caught lying to his father about his non-existent job at the car wash, Jason has now found gainful employment at Buddy McSlawburger's - where he's forced to wear "the funny hat" as part of his uniform. What's the worst job you've ever had? Did it involve a particularly noxious uniform? Tell us about it - in riveting, full-color detail!

I had awesome jobs so far. And none uniforms really. A few years back I worked in kids birthdays so I only had to wear a black t-shirt with the name of the company. And I love working with kids so I had lots of fun and no voice the following day.
And The last job I has was as a bartender so I didn’t have to wear any uniforms plus I get to get people drunk for a living… FUN!

4) In an effort to regain their stolen instruments, Aoide and Rhodia travel to the sugar swamp to hire a hunter. Wouldn't you love to live somewhere where the water is sweet and the grass is made of sugar cane? Show us a picture of you enjoying your favorite sweet treat. Or, rewrite history and tell us how your version of the sugar swamp would differ from the one in the book.

COFFE! ICE CREAM! (I’m the one in the middle – friends can’t see this :P)
But yes, I'd love to live somewhere where the water is sweet and the grass is made of sugar cane... YUM!

WEEK 1

1.       At the beginning of the story, the Assorted Zebras are just a garage band, but they are expecting to make it big. Who knows, you just might find yourself at one of their concerts someday. Until then, show me your favorite concert t-shirt. It could be a picture of a concert you actually attended or a pic of a vintage tee of your favorite band. Be sure to tell me the story behind the tee.
 
I went to 3 concerst from that band and I have amazing memories from all of them. I got autographs, pictures, meet awesome people that are now some of my closest friends and the best, I got to see my fav band live.

The McFLY one is actually my brother’s t-shirt. But I went to the concert, and it was amazing. Front row and meet and greet. I was a very happy person!
Sonata’s t-shirt is mine, is old and went with me to both concerts so it had LOTS of sweat in it… but also amazing memories from one of the best shows. But is in the washing machine so no pic :S

2.       Jason’s mom forces him to agree to do some yard work for Mrs. Dullahan, which wouldn’t be so bad if she wasn’t rumored to be a witch. Tell me about the worst chore you were ever forced to do. Who make you do it? Bonus points if you have a picture to share of you doing the dirty work.

Honestly I can’t remember of an ugly chore I had to do… my parents are cool like that :P The worst I had to do was cleaning the cat’s litter box LOL and considering the cat is mine, it was my duty L

3.       Uh oh! There seems to be a jewelry thief in the neighborhood. Have you have had anything stolen from you? Or have you ever lost something precious? Did you ever find it? Make a Reward if Found poster for the stolen or lost item. Convince us to find it for you. Make the reward good!


4.       In Faerie, Jason declares himself as Jason the Guy Who Wants That Necklace Back. Weird, but then again every name has a meaning. What does your name mean? What is the origin? Do you go by any kind of nicknames? How did you get that nickname?

Cynthia is a Greek girl name. The meaning of the name is `moon, Greek god `

The name Cynthia means woman from Kynthos. 

 In Greek mythology it was used as an epithet of Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon and of hunting; she 
was supposed to have been born on Mount Kynthos on the island of Delos in the Aegean Sea. 

Daniela is Hebrew and means “God is my Judge”.

Nicknames: I’ve got lots… Cyny, Cyn, those are pretty common.

Chuchi: Well I was the youngest so my cousins gave me weird names…

Pity: For you English speakers, the girl in The Smurf, in Spanish is called Pitufina, and as the youngest I was the 
shortest in the family… so they shortened it to Pity for me L

5.       When Jason gets home from his all night adventures through Fairy, his parents unfairly ground him for a month! Care to share a time you were grounded by your parents for no good reason?

I’m a good girl, I can say with all honesty that I was never grounded as a child, even when maybe I deserved it. I love my parents :D
